Reiki degree Classes - Coming in 2010

Reiki Degrees

Traditionally, there are three degrees of practice, each building on the other and each outlining a unique, specific scope of practice.  However, a daily hands-on Reiki self-treatment practice remains the foundation at all levels of training.

Becoming attuned to Reiki is a wonderful life changing event.  The only pre-requisite to learning Reiki is an open heart and a desire to grow while healing oneself and others.  Once you are attuned to Reiki by a qualified Reiki Master it will be with you always in every situation.  Reiki can inspire you with new ideas and insights, comfort you when you are in pain or depressed, and give you an outlet to share love and healing with the world.

Reiki First Degree

In first degree Reiki students practice self-treatment and full treatments with one another.  This class prepares students to give themselves daily Reiki treatment for life.  The hand placements to use when sharing Reiki with others, either through a full session or an abbreviated chair treatment, as well as how to offer Reiki in acute situations and through informal spot treatment is also covered at this degree level.

Although first degree class is primarily experiential, the Reiki Master gives an overview of the history and precepts of Reiki.  Most importantly, the Reiki Master initiates the students so they become empowered conduits for Reiki energy.  Traditional first degee training involves four initiations.  For most people who want to practice on themselves and family, first degree Reiki is all they need.

Reiki Second Degree

In second degree Reiki students learn distant healing and the use of Reiki symbols.  With this mental connection healing can be offered even when touch is impossible or inappropriate.  Techniques taught at this level can also be used to enhance a hands-on treatment.  Only one initiation is received at this level to open the students to an even greater flow of Reiki energy.  This initiaion helps the students bring more focus to their Reiki practice.

Reiki Master

The third level of training is Reiki Master.  Traditionally, the Reiki Master level of training was by invitation only.  This invitation was extended only to accomplished students who were prepared to devote their lives to teaching people to practice Reiki.  Traditionally, master training is done not through course work, but rather through an extended apprenticeship with a Reiki Master.  Only Reiki Masters can teach Reiki to others.

NOTE:  Whether you seek to practice Reiki on yourself or others, learning Reiki is not an intellectual exercise.  Proficiency with Reiki is developed through practice, not by taking the next level class.
