A Reiki treatment is a light hands on process whereby a Reiki practitioner transfers universal life energy to the recipient.  Reiki treatment is safe, non-intrusive and non-manipulative.  It requires no particular belief system and is as effective with all who are open to the energy.  There are no substances applied to the body, and the recipient remains fully clothed.

During a full Reiki treatment the practitioner directs healing energy to several areas of the head, the upper body, and the back.  While the focus is given to the body's major organs, every cell of the body will benefit.  In addition to the formal 12/13 hand positions (4/5 head positions, 4 abdominal positions, and 4 back positions), Reiki can be applied to any part of the body that needs balance.

Reiki works through bandages and casts, and can even be transmitted at a distance.  Reiki can relieve pain and acute symptoms quite rapidly, while more chronic problems may require more extensive treatment.  The length of treatment depends upon the root cause of the problem and the amount of energy needed to revitalize and bring into balance the ailing area of the body.

A full Reiki session can last about one to one and a half hours.  Some people feel Reiki as warmth, others as hot energy, and some feel nothing at all.  Overall Reiki is often experienced as deep relaxation and lightness.  This relaxation may be accompanied by a release of physical and emotional stress, followed by renewed energy.  Reiki adjusts to the needs of the recipient; and it is important to remember that you do not have to be sick or injured to experience the benefits of a Reiki session.

Number of Sessions

A minimum of 3 consecutive, daily Reiki treatments is recommended when you are being treated for the first time.  The number and frequency of additional sessions can be determined after these initial 3 sessions.
