About Reiki
(Pronounced (Ray-Key) is a Japanese word representing Universal Life Energy; the energy which is all around us, within us and all living things.
Reiki treatment is an extremely effective technique for relaxation and stress reduction; and is safe, non-intrusive and non-manipulative. It requires no particular belief system and is as effective with all who are open to the energy. There are no substances applied to the body, and the recipient remains fully clothed
Reiki releases blocked energy naturally and safely; can minimize the sense of helplessness when faced with disease and/or a crisis situation; and is a valuable tool for overall well-being enhancement. Reiki has been used to reduce pain symptoms, anxiety, fatigue, the side effects of medication, and to encourage recovery after injuries or surgery. Reiki treatment and practice helps people become more actively involved in their own health. In addition to treatment for people; Reiki can be used to heal and deepen your bond with the animals in your life.

What Is A Reiki Treatment Like?
I customize my Reiki treatment session to your needs; however a complete traditional Reiki treatment is the cornerstone of our session. Treatment will start with you lying on your back, fully clothed, on my treatment table, with support and adjustments as needed to ensure your comfort. I will lightly rest my hands on or above areas of the head and torso directing healing energy to promote relaxation and to bolster your body's capacity to heal.
Some people experience Reiki as warmth, others as hot energy, and some feel sensations of energy movement in the limbs or through the body. Overall Reiki is most often experienced as deep relaxation and lightness. This relaxation may be accompanied by a release of physical and emotional stress, followed by renewed energy. Reiki adjusts to the needs of the recipient.

Finding A Qualified Reiki Practitioner
There are many different perspectives and practice styles with Reiki because the Reiki profession has grown out of the grass roots movement rather than emerging from academic healthcare programs. There are no common standards of education or treatment that are agreeded upon across all practice styles. Therefore, the possession of a Reiki degree certificate does not ensure that the practitioner has had adequate training. You need to ask specific questions to determine the level of training, experience, and right fit for you.
You can receive hands-on Reiki treatment from someone at any of the three traditional levels. If you are interested in distant healing you will need a practitioner trained in at least Second degree. To learn to practice Reiki yourself you wil need a qualified Reiki Master Teacher.

Questions To Ask:
- What is the practitioner's level of training (Frist degree, Second degree, or Reiki Master)?
- When was the practitioner trained?
- How long was the practitioner's training at each level?
- Was the practitioner's training for each level conducted separately?
- How far apart were their trainings?
- What is the practitioner's experience?
- How does the practitioner describe Reiki?
- How does the practitioner describe a treatment?
- Does the practitioner do daily self-treatment?
It is important to know how long ago a practitioner's training was and how often they practice. A practitioner trained a number of years ago who rarely uses it would certainly be less desirable than one who may have been trained a year ago, but practices daily.
All Reiki degree levels should be conducted in separate trainings; with a minimum of 8-12 hours of instruction and practice for each of the first two degree levels. In addition, Second degree training should only occur after a minimum of 3-6 months has passed from their First degree training. This gives the practitioner the necessary time to integrate what has been initiated within them from the first level of training; and to become grounded in their hands-on practice. Another 1-2 years minimum practice is desired before moving on to the Master level of training. Many traditional Reiki Masters will often require much more experience than that to be considered as a Master student.
